About double up
Double up is a fluffy, thick beanie that with its double layer keeps you warm all winter. The beanie can be turned two ways, so you get two looks in one beanie here!
About the pattern
The beanie is crocheted in rows as a rectangle in half double crochets and single crochets in the back loop. After each row, turn with 1 chain stitch. Your chain stitches do not count as the first stitch on the next row. Finally, the piece is gathered into a cylinder and the ends of the hat are closed.
The pattern uses short rows, which means that some rows are shorter than others. When the uncrocheted stitches are to be crocheted again: Insert the crochet hook through the side of the last stitch 2 rows down, insert the crochet hook into the first uncrocheted stitch and complete the stitch as normal. The pattern includes a picture guide for short rows if you are unsure how to do it.
